Of all the things that inspire me, it is my love of colour which is at the heart of everything I do.

From an early age I loved the rich and sumptuous colours produced by the Technicolor © films of the 1950s and 1960s. The warmth and vibrancy of the colours are often in my mind.

The themes of Mediterranean scenery/food/people often appear in my work. I enjoy creating images which could almost be snapped in a photograph; ordinary moments which invite the observer into the scene. A sense of escapism and relaxation.

My favourite painter is Marc Chagall. His poetic and beautifully coloured paintings have been a favourite of mine for many years and I never tire of looking at them. My favourite illustrators also tend to have a lyrical quality to their work; Arthur Rackham and Edmund Dulac were early inspirations of mine. My current favourite is the beautiful and magical work of Chicago based illustrator Kristina Swarner.

Other inspirations in my life are the vast array of stunning and colourful works in various media produced by Kaffe Fassett and also the amazing illustration, painting and writing of Tove Janssen.

In some of the images on this website I have drawn a yellow bird. This is a symbolic image of a bright little messenger who brings hope and inspiration!
